Start with the symptoms and vehicle history

Describe what happens, how often and under which conditions. A cold-start concern can be different from a fault that appears after a long drive. Recent repairs, battery issues and modifications are useful context, even if they seem unrelated to the current warning light.

Testing beyond the code reader

A stored code describes a condition detected by the vehicle; it does not automatically prove that the part named in the code needs replacing. We investigate the cause and discuss the findings, including when more testing is needed to narrow down an intermittent concern.

Separate diagnosis from the repair

Diagnostic work establishes what to do next. Once the concern has been assessed, we explain the proposed repair and its cost. If the symptoms cannot be reproduced during the appointment, we discuss what was checked and what information would help the next investigation.
