The Garage 46 widebody Nissan Z on the Toyo Tires Treadpass at SEMA 2025

SEMA · Las Vegas · Every November

Manitoba’s SEMA shop.

One builder from Winnipeg has taken cars to the SEMA Show since 2014: a Tuner Battlegrounds championship, a Battle of the Builders Young Gun award, a Toyo Treadpass Nissan Z, and a Liberty Walk GT-R on the way. This is the record, with the sources.

Founder & lead builder

Anthony De Guzman.

Anthony started with a tired blue Supra found on Kijiji and built it in Winnipeg into a 2JZ car that won PASMAG’s Tuner Battlegrounds championship in 2014 and a SEMA Young Gun award in 2016. He has been building for SEMA ever since: an A90 Supra in 2019, the first Kuhl Racing Spec-D widebody Nissan Z in North America for the Toyo Tires Treadpass in 2025, and a Liberty Walk R35 GT-R for 2026.

Garage 46 exists because the habits that get a car onto the Treadpass, measured fitment, documented work, nothing hidden under a panel, are the habits a customer’s daily driver deserves too. The same hands do both, in the same bay at the east edge of Winnipeg.

What it means for your car

The same bay does your brakes.

A SEMA build is thousands of small fitment decisions: offsets measured before wheels are ordered, panel gaps set with hardware that will not corrode, suspension corner-balanced, every part logged. We do not switch that off for a customer’s Civic.

If you want a widebody kit fitted without wavy gaps, air suspension that drives properly in a Manitoba winter, a wheel and tire package with zero rub, or a tune that is validated with logs rather than a dyno sticker, you are in the right place. If you want the Liberty Walk treatment on your GT-R, you are in the only place in Manitoba that is doing one.

Questions

SEMA, explained.

What is SEMA, and why does it matter for my car?

The SEMA Show in Las Vegas is the biggest automotive aftermarket show in the world. The cars on display are invited or selected; you cannot just drive one in. A shop that builds cars to that standard every year has fitment, fabrication and finishing habits that carry over to a brake job on a daily driver, because there is only one way of working in the bay.

What is Tuner Battlegrounds?

PASMAG’s season-long build competition. Cars progress through fan-voted rounds and the championship is decided at SEMA. Garage 46’s founder won it in 2014 with a 1993 Toyota Supra built in Winnipeg.

What is the Battle of the Builders Young Gun award?

Battle of the Builders is SEMA’s own competition for the best vehicles at the show, judged by past winners. The Young Gun designation recognises builders under 29. In 2016 the Supra made the Top 21 overall and Top 7 in Sport Compact, and Anthony received the Young Gun award, the only Canadian builder to take home an award that year.

What is the Toyo Tires Treadpass?

Toyo’s invitation-only showcase at SEMA. In 2025 it featured 28 builds from across North America, including the Garage 46 Nissan Z, which Toyo lists on its official SEMA Builds page.

Can you build a SEMA car for me, or just do the usual mods?

Both. Most of the performance work we do is coilovers, wheels and tires, exhaust, tuning and brakes on cars people drive every day. The same bay does full widebody conversions, air suspension and show builds. Start with a consultation and we will plan the car with you.

Where is the shop?

At the east edge of Winnipeg between Transcona and the Perimeter Highway: 46 Matheson Pkwy Unit 1, Winnipeg, MB R0E 1J0.
