Suspension & Steering Repair

Winnipeg potholes are hard on suspension. Garage 46 finds worn shocks, struts, joints and bushings and restores the ride and handling your car should have.

Serving North Kildonan, East Kildonan, Transcona, East St. Paul and the rest of Winnipeg.

Signs of worn suspension or steering

Clunks over bumps, a wandering or loose steering feel, a car that bounces after a dip, uneven tire wear and a pull to one side are common signs. Spring thaw and pothole season make them worse. We inspect on the lift to find the worn parts.

What we repair

Shocks and struts, springs, ball joints, tie rod ends, control arms, sway bar links, bushings and wheel bearings. On vehicles with air suspension, we diagnose leaks and compressor faults.

Alignment after suspension work

Replacing steering or suspension parts usually changes alignment. We recommend an alignment afterwards so the car tracks straight and your tires wear evenly.

Suspension & Steering Repair questions.

How do I know if my shocks or struts are worn?

Excessive bouncing, nose-diving when braking, leaking fluid on the shock body and uneven tire wear are common signs. An inspection confirms it.

Can a pothole damage my suspension?

Yes. A hard hit can bend components, damage tie rods or knock the alignment out. If the car pulls or the steering wheel is off-centre after a pothole, have it checked.

Do I need an alignment after suspension repairs?

Usually, yes. Many suspension and steering parts affect alignment angles, so an alignment protects your tires and handling.
